Instrumental in the evolution of legal apprenticeship standards, CILEx Law School serves a growing number of apprentices amongst its student population. In 2017, the School identified a need for a new LMS to better support their apprentice development model, implement a more flexible approach to managing blended learning programmes and offer enhanced course reporting; all at a lower total cost of ownership.
CILEx Law School is wholly owned by the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives and has been providing education services to the UK legal profession since 1983. With approximately 4,000 enrolled students at any one time, the school’s mission is to provide high-quality training at a reasonable cost to learners or their sponsoring body.
Following a comprehensive market review, Learning Pool’s award-winning Totara Learn solution has been chosen to complement CILEx Law School’s existing distance-learning good practice.
The solution includes enhanced learning programme creation, the ability to synchronise student information with the in-house Microsoft Dynamics CRM system, seven-days per week access to the Learning Pool customer success team.
CILEx also enjoy visibility to course progress for apprentice employers who include law firms, in-house legal departments and local authorities.
The Results and The Future
The apprenticeship levy continues to create opportunities for learners to take advantage of new development resources. Learning Pool’s platform, driven by Totara Learn will help CILEx Law School’s students to be fully engaged and supported throughout their learning journey and the School will have unlimited access to our technical support desk to ensure that the platform is always performing optimally.
Learning Pool are also excited about the chance to work with the CILEx Law School team across additional areas of learning technology, such as device-responsive content authoring and our AI-powered learning recommendation tools, in the future.
“CILEx Law School has always focused on supporting new and existing legal students with their professional development journey through distance-learning.
The relationships that we have with employers in the industry mean that we constantly look for ways to match our training to their business needs and organisational performance. We’re excited about the new benefits that this project will provide to both our students and business partners alike.”
