In 2018, Totara Learning hosted over 100 learning professionals at the last APAC User Conference in Sydney. Delegates had the chance to hear first-hand experiences with using Totara Learn in the workplace from Berry Street, Law Society NSW, Medcast, Eastern Health, Alfred Health, Datacomm, RICOH and more.

Day 1 - User Conference
Keynote - Making the Ordinary, Extraordinary: Living a Legacy Through Learning
In this session, Dr. Melissa Bordogna will discuss ways to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary through gaining a deeper insight into ourselves and then translating that insight into inspired action by living our core values daily. Also, how by raising our standards it is easier to reach our goals and positively impact the Futurebilities for ourselves, others and our organisations.
Future-proofing your L&D Tech Strategy
In a world where technology advances at an exponential rate, how do we ensure our strategic roadmaps are innovative enough to keep up with this rapidly advancing area? This strategy based session, hosted by Chloe Powell, Solutions Consultant, should help Totara Users create roadmaps for upgrading your systems, whilst making sure you can build an innovative learning environment and still have the freedom of open source.

Case Study: Implementing a one-stop-shop learning solution for complex business needs
Presented by Michelle Morrison, Manager, eTraining Systems and Development, The Pharmacy Guild of Australia. In her session, she will walk attendees through the work that her organisation did with Totara Partner Androgogic, to create a Totara Learn platform that needed to support multiple audiences with unique requirements for learning, resources, and CPD in a one-stop shop solution. This session will also reveal how they migrated legacy data onto their new LMS quickly and painlessly.
Totara Product Discovery, Roadmap and More
Users will hear from our Product team members, Sam Hemelryk and André Yamin. They'll be sharing product roadmaps, some best practice tips, showcasing some cool features including our recently released Totara V12.
Case study: Totara and I: A New User Experience
Presented by Tanzil Rashid, L&OD Manager, Henley Properties. This session will explore the all-too-familiar story of a newly appointed learning manager in a business where learning is the lowest priority. He will demonstrate how to win over the most LMS-averse organisation with Totara Learn, including building a strong business case for updating your learning platform and investing in L&D.
Case Study: Utilising Totara for more than just mandatory training
Presented by Matthew Carson, Digital Learning Coordinator, Eastern Health. Matt will show how Eastern Health has used the Totara system (named iLearn) to also create communities of practice (learning hubs), manage elective workshops and study days, and coordinate student and graduate nursing/midwifery programs amongst their 18,000 learners.

Case Study: Digitalising RAQ’s induction programme
Presented by Vijay Nanduri, L&D Specialist, Relationships Australia Queensland. Vijay's session will focus on his experience of using Totara Learn to transform a legacy, face-to-face induction programme into a learner-centric digital experience. It will reveal how Relationships Australia Queensland managed to improve learning engagement, reduce support call volume and reduced travel and logistics costs.
Case Study: Dynamic audiences and their impact on reporting
Presented by Dale Chadwick, Learning Technology Manager, and Ellen Valvasori, Learning Technology Administrator, Austin Health. Together, they will delve into the benefits of Totara Learn’s dynamic audiences functionality for targeting specific cohorts with specific learning. They will also reveal how they created filtered reports to create organisation-wide reports on key training activities, along with their innovative centralised reporting solution.

Stream 1: 9.00 - 10.30 am
Session 1 - Experience API: A practical application solving real-world problems in the health industry. Hosted by Alexander Roche from Androgogic, this workshop will explore xAPI including how it merged and why and how it works. It will then explore a practical example of xAPI in action in the interoperation of learning records across institutions specifically in the health sector.
Session 2 - Maximise your user experience with reports. Hosted by Jess Beale and Nikki Sinclair from Catalyst, this session will be a deep dive into Totara Learn’s report builder and dashboards. Attendees will look at ways to maximise the user experience and display relevant data to different Totara roles. In this session, attendees will:
Session 3 - Totara Content Marketplace: Connecting your Totara Learn users with the world’s best content. The team from GO1 will be hosting this workshop, which will be a deep dive into how to use the Content Marketplace plugin, and how L&D professionals can create effective learning plans with the e-learning courses available. The Totara Learning product teams will also be onsite to share more details about the features and functionalities of the latest Totara Learn 12 release.
Stream 2: 11.00 - 12.30 pm
Session 4 - A real-world Virtual Reality workshop: Create your own VR learning objects cheaply and quickly using CenarioVR. Hosted by Karen Young, Courseware Development Manager from Androgogic, this session will explore the creation of Virtual Reality learning objects using the CenarioVR authoring tool and 360 video or stills. This is a hands-on workshop in which the attendees will build their own VR learning objects and assemble and use a set of VR goggles.
Session 5 - H5P, saying goodbye to SCORM. Hosted by Nikki Sinclair, Senior Consultant from Catalyst, this is an introductory session for content creators to the open source plugin for Totara called H5P. H5P allows you to build rich interactive content directly in your Totara site.
Session 6 - Getting hands-on with xAPI data and Totara Learn. This workshop, hosted by Robin Petterd and Brenden Halley from Sprout Labs, will be a hands-on deep dive into the possibilities of xAPI. Expect to get hands-on looking at ways to generate xAPI statements in Totara Learn and how to bring non-LMS data into your xAPI ecosystems. This will include how to use the xAPI bookmarklet and Sprout Labs’ xAPI-enabled checklist builder. Also during the session, you will get hands-on experience with xAPI reporting in Learning Locker. All attendees will be given a free trial instance of the open source version of Learning Locker and Glasshouse for 30 days to be able to continue to explore xAPI data beyond the workshop.
Stream 3: 13.30 - 15.00 pm
Session 7 - 7 ways to streamline workplace learning. Hosted by Chad Outten from My Learning Space, in this session you'll look at the key functions to ensure training is better targeted, the right people get notified regarding progress, meanwhile saving your time and sanity.
Session 8 - People insights: using people data to drive learning impact.In this session run by our partner, Kineo APAC, James Ballard, Product Manager (enterprise), takes attendees on a journey to explore how to maximise your REAL learning impact through the Totara platform.
